ST Vincent de Paul will have a little bit more to give this year thanks to the annual Classic Toy Run car rally held at Campbell Town in November.
The rally, organised by insurer Shannons, not only showcases vintage and collectable cars, but acts as a present drive for those who will struggle to by gifts this Christmas.
The presents collected at the toy run were donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society who organise Christmas hampers to be distributed throughout Launceston, Burnie, Devonport and Hobart.
This year about 150 cars were on show.
St Vincent de Paul state president Peter Lyall said the drive was always an impressive example of the generosity of the community, with a truckload of donated gifts collected on the day despite poor weather.
"This time of year we deliver hampers and visit people who we look after through the year, people who have been doing it a bit tough. A lot of it is focused on families and it means there is a bit more for the kids," Mr Lyall said.
"Of course with the Shannon's run they do every year it makes a huge difference to what we have to offer people.
"Because people donate gifts it means that our four regions they will have those extra things to give and people are always pretty generous this time of year, it shows the true Christmas spirit."
The car rally draws enthusiasts from across the state and is held in Campbell Town each year as a central location for people in all regions.
