THE Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk is being congratulated for its hugely successful Australian premiere of Game On 2.0.
The exhibition includes more than 130 playable games, as well as rare consoles, controllers and collectables.
Visitors to Game On 2.0 can travel back to the days of Pong, Pacman and Space Invaders and play back through time to the present day favourites- Playstation, X-Box and Wii.
The original Game On has thrilled more than one million players of all ages around the world and Game On 2.0 will be in Launceston for 13 weeks before touring to Greece.
Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery director Patrick Filmer-Sankey said a large number of visitors had attended, with more than 1000 visitors through last weekend.
Almost every weekend has had record amounts of ticket sales and it is now set to be the most successful show the museum has hosted.
In a Launceston City Council meeting, Alderman Annette Waddle reported that Mr Filmer- Sankey had expressed his great satisfaction with the performance of the exhibition.
"The weeks have been strong, with takings sometimes over $2000 per day. The first 10 days went very well and it has shown that Launceston can take a world premiere and really make it work," Alderman Waddle said.
Also quick to grab the attention of gamers, the larger-than life Lara Croft and Mario cut- outs at the entrance to Game On 2.0 have been popular.
A museum spokesperson said the game heroes had attracted some hefty offers from visitors wishing to take them as a souvenir.
