Gorge inclinator set to `wow' us soon

13 Oct, 2009 12:00 AM
THE installation of a mechanised inclinator at the Cataract Gorge has been delayed by recent heavy rain, but is expected to be finished by the end of the month.

Launceston Deputy Mayor Rosemary Armitage said she was pleased with the inclinator, which was part of a $2.4 million project.

"It's been held up by about two months with the rain, otherwise it would have already been open," Alderman Armitage said.

"We're looking at the end of October now for it to be open.

"So it will certainly be there in time for the Christmas and summer period."

The inclinator is a travelling platform to assist people with disabilities and is part of a visitor services project.

Launceston Alderman Ivan Dean described the plan as adding "the wow factor" and making the Cataract Gorge a world-class visitor experience.
